The Hercules Roadeo Chennai Cycling is back with its second edition of its event, encouraging Chennaiites to get back to some form of physical activity to lead a healthy life. The cycling event scheduled to be held on March 3 is organised by Tamil Nadu Cycling Association (TNCA) along with CRX Sports and Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT).

“There is a need for people to get back to some physical activity and the best option is cycling,” Rohit Kuttappa, managing director, CRX Sports. And what better way to enjoy cycling, that could be eco-friendly, healthy and a form of a sport, than in a road sans traffic.

On March 3, the stretch of Kamarajar Salai along the Marina Beach will be free of traffic from 4 am to 12 noon. Five different rides will be organised for cycling professionals, members of the public, kids, corporate apart from a ride exclusively for a cause. There will also be a celebrity lap where actor Karthi, who is the brand ambassador for the event, is set to participate.

With the first edition last year attracting as many as over 4100 participants and the organizers hoping to see more numbers this year, plans are also on to take this annual event to other cities in 2014.

Cycling enthusiasts can register to be part of the event either online at www.chennaicycling.com or simply walk in to any BSA Hercules store or Caf� Coffee Day to register before February 28. Those registered will get a receipt of acknowledgement, after which they could collect their helmets and chest numbers at YMCA, Nandanam, on March 1 and 2.

Entry fee for those, who own a cycle would be Rs 300 and it is Rs 500 for those who need a cycle for the ride.
